Benitha D. Mathews was appointed to serve as the District's Technology Coordinator in 2006. She is currently the Director of Technology/Superivisor of Library Media. In 2005, she was the Education Specialist for Lowndes Middle and Central High Schools, and in 2004 and 2003, she was the Assistant Principal for Hayneville and Central High School respectively. Prior to her job offer in Lowndes County, Benitha was a Career Technology Teacher at Floyd Middle Magnet School in Montgomery County Public Schools.
Dr. Mathews currently serves on the Board of Directors for ALET (Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology), formerly known as AETA (Alabama Education Technology Association), representing Region 6. She has been a part of this organization for 13 years. Dr. Mathews, recently completed her Certified Technology Officer (CTO) Certification at the Fall Symposium in 2018. She has received the Administrator of the Quarter award for Lowndes County Public Schools for the years, 2006, 2011, 2014, and 2017.
