The Lowndes County Head Start program recruits and enrolls age eligible children from low-income families. Also, a broad range of supportive services are provided directly or through referral. The focus of the social service department is to provide each Head Start family with the necessary tools for, “life after Head Start.” Our trainings include the some of the following topics:
Each Head Start center is housed with a Family Service Worker, which will work with each family on an individual basis to establish and maintain personal goals/needs. Through partnership building with our families and community, the Lowndes County Head Start program is, “Empowering Families, and Changing Lives.”
Lowndes County Head Start seeks to involve parents in all phases of their children education. Parents are encouraged to participate in classroom activities, parent meetings and as members of the policy council committee. Training sessions and workshops in parenting skills, personal growth and development are provided to parents for professional development.
